We Are Wild Things!!

We have been reading one of the best children's books ever, Where The Wild Things Are, by Maurice Sendak. The children turned themselves into wild things yesterday with terrible claws, teeth, eyes, and roars! They acted out the story as wild things and became part of the story. Afterward, they wrote about what they feel when they are WILD!
Today we caused a rumpus and used instruments as we became wild things. As the story ended we discussed the many themes and made interpretations about the book. They followed up with a writing piece on a connection they had to the theme of the book. Acting out stories lends to better comprehension and deeper understanding of a book's theme or lesson!
